KEY INGREDIENTS

Alpha Lipoic Acid
Also called lipoic acid and thioctic acid, this versatile antioxidant also helps improve insulin sensitivity and is highly effective in protecting against glycation, one of the most serious complications of elevated glucose. Along with acetyl l-carnitine, lipoic acid helps protect mitochondrial membranes from damage, thereby enhancing cellular energy metabolism.

Benfotiamine
This fat-soluble vitamin B derivative inhibits the formation of advanced glycation end products, or AGE’s, whose main targets are the nerves, blood vessels, eyes and kidneys. As typical problem areas associated with diabetes, it should come as no surprise that diabetics produce excess AGE’s. Glycation (or the caramelisation of cells), together with oxidation, is also a basic biochemical breakdown associated with aging.

Inositol Hexanicotinate
This form of niacin does not produce the flushing associated with other forms. Niacin is a precursor to NAD, which is a universal energy carrier in all cells. It may reduce the rate of aging. It is also used to minimize the build-up of fats in the liver.

Resveratrol
This phytochemical's antioxidant properties may lower overall cardiovascular disease risk. Its anti-inflammatory properties also help to block reactions associated with several cancers. In laboratory animals, resveratrol has been shown to alter genes that may slow the rate of aging.

Pregnenalone
Pregnenalone is an extremely important nutrient that is the precursor to the adrenal steroid hormones including DHEA, estrogen, testosterone, progesterone, and cortisone. Under periods of stress pregnenalone gets shunted to make extra cortisone leaving insufficient amounts to manufacture these other vital hormones. Additional pregnenalone helps alleviate this problem. Pregnenalone also has been known to be an excellent anti-inflammatory compound in and of itself.

KEY INGREDIENTS

Acetyl L-Carnitine
L-carnitineis requ iredforthetransportof fatty acids into themitochondria, where they are burned for energy; without adequate carnitine, fat burning is impaired. This supplement has been shown to reduce angina, improve heart function and exercise tolerance in victims of congestive heart failure and even speed up recovery from heart attacks. Acetyl L-carnitine is an especially effective form of L-carnitine that can get into the brain and improve and protect brain function. Acetyl L-carnitine has been shown to help preserve an important cellular membrane chemical called cardiolipin. This is a critical component of mitochondrial membranes, and thus helps preserve the integrity of mitochondria, which are the main energy generators of all cells. As such it may slow the rate of aging.

L-Arginine
This amino acid is a precursor to nitric oxide, which signals the arteries to relax and dilate. This increases blood flow, lowers blood pressure and prevents arterial spasms. Arginine also helps prevent the formation of clots. Arginine may also reduce glycation and enhances insulin sensitivity.

L-Theanine
L-theanine promotes mental and physical relaxation without inducing drowsiness. L-theanine is an amino acid found in green tea that produces relaxing effects in the brain. For centuries, green tea has been used in the Orient for its calming properties and theanine may be responsible for many of the benefits seen with green tea. This calming, or so-called parasympathetic effect, has great benefit in heart disease, high blood pressure, and blood sugar.

KEY INGREDIENTS

High gamma Vitamin E
Also known as tocopherols, these fat-soluble vitamins help protect fatty cell membranes from turning rancid, also known as oxidizing. As distinguished from d-alpha tocopherol, the mixed, high gamma tocopherols used in our formulas are much more effective and safer. This lipid antioxidant helps keep unsaturated fats (such as omega-3 fatty acids) in cellular membranes from oxidizing as well as prevent the oxidation of LDL cholesterol which, when oxidized, becomes one of the major players in
atherosclerosis. Vitamin E also helps cells' surface receptors "hear" the signals of leptin, insulin and other messengers.

CoQ10
Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10), or ubiquinone, is a naturally-occurring nutrient found in nearly every cell of the body. Found in highest concentration in cell mitochondria (where energy is produced), its primary function is to help convert food into energy. Although CoQ10 is involved in every bodily process that re q u i res energy, it's believed to be of fundamental importance in cells with high metabolic demands, such as cardiac cells. The heart, with extremely high energy requirements, requires appropriately high amounts of CoQ10. Studies show that CoQ10 supports healthy blood pressure, promotes healthy immune-system function, and may reduce risk of cancer.

Phosphatidyl Serine
Phosphatidylserine (PS) is a nutrient that maintains the integrity of cell membranes and youthful synaptic plasticity (meaning it protects cells against age-related deterioration). PS has been shown to be effective at helping to improve memory and neural function. PS may also help to reduce high cortisol levels.

Vitamin K2
Vitamin K has been shown to have much more significant effects than just being involved in blood clotting. It has been shown to be critical in regulating calcium metabolism, in particular where calcium is put.
Vitamin K is necessary to build particular proteins that not only increases bone strength, but also holds calcium. Additionally and extremely importantly, it keeps calcium out of arteries. It had been assumed that people we re unlikely to suffer inadequate quantities of vitamin K since it can be manufactured by bacteria in the colon. However, in this day and age of extensive antibiotic overuse it has been shown that inadequate quantities of vitamin K are frequently produced. Vitamin K2 is particularly bioavailable.

Vanadyl Sulphate
Also called vanadium, vanadyl sulphate helps stabilize blood sugar levels and increase the efficiency of glycogen storage in both the liver and muscle tissue. It appears to act as somewhat of an insulin mimic, lowering blood sugar without adversely affecting insulin sensitivity.

Benfotiamine
As in formula one, this fat soluble derivative of Vitamin B1 helps to halt sugar build-up in nerve and eye tissues and is already used to reverse eye and nerve damage among type II diabetics. One way that
Benfotiamine reduces glucose within cells is by diverting it into the manufacture of ribose which is used to make RNA, the messengers of genetic information. By reducing intracellular (inside the cell) glucose, it greatly reduces the glycation of important intracellular components, preserving the function of cells and therefore life.

Gymnema Sylvestre
A member of the milkweed formula, gymnema sylvestre has been used to treat type II diabetes in its native India for more than 2,000 years. Even in non-diabetics, it is an effective means by which to maintain proper pancreatic function and healthy blood sugar levels. Some studies have shown that Gymnema Sylvestre helps to restore the islet cells of the pancreas that manufacture insulin.
